Yom Kippur is a special day for reflection, forgiveness and making a fresh start.
Let’s make a simple card to think about the things we are thankful for, something we would like to improve, and a kind action we can take.
What You’ll Need
- A sheet of paper or cardstock
- Pencil
- Crayons or colour pencils
- Sketch pens
- Scissors
- Glue
- Optional: our printable Fresh Start Card template
Step 1: Fold Your Card
Take a sheet of paper and fold it in half to make a simple card.
On the front, draw a small plant, heart, star or another symbol that makes you think of a fresh start.

Step 2: Think About What You Are Thankful For
Open your card.
On the first section, write or draw something you are thankful for.
It could be:
- Your family
- A friend
- Your favourite book
- Something kind someone did for you
- A happy memory

Step 3: Think About Something You Want to Improve
In the second section, draw or write one thing you would like to do better.
Maybe you want to:
- Be more patient
- Share more
- Listen carefully
- Help at home
- Be kinder to a friend
Remember — everyone makes mistakes. What matters is trying to learn from them.

Step 5: Decorate Your Card
Now make your card special!
Add:
- Hearts
- Stars
- Leaves
- Flowers
- A growing plant
- Your favourite colours
You can also add your name and the date if you would like.

Display Your Fresh Start Card 🌱
When your card is finished, keep it somewhere special or share it with your family.
You can look at it again whenever you want to remember your goals and the kind actions you want to take.
💡 What is one small thing you can do today to make someone’s day better?Sometimes, even a small kind action can be a wonderful fresh start.
A Little Yom Kippur Reminder
