Do you know the names of your grandparents or great-grandparents?

During Pitru Paksha, many families take time to remember the people who came before them.

This simple activity lets you create your own Family Memory Tree. You can add family members, decorate the tree and fill it with happy memories. 💛

What You’ll Need

  • Printable Family Memory Tree
  • Crayons or colour pencils
  • Pencil
  • A parent or grandparent to help you
  • Old family photographs, if you have them

Step 1: Look at Your Tree

Start with the black-and-white tree outline.

Look at all the branches.

You will see circles and leaf shapes along the branches. These are the special spaces where you can add people from your family.

Step 2: Add Your Family Members

Now think about the people in your family.

With help from a parent or grandparent, draw or write family members inside the circles and leaf shapes.

You could include:

  • Grandparents
  • Great-grandparents
  • Parents
  • Other special family members

You don’t have to know everyone’s name.

If you have an old family photograph, you can use it to help you remember people.

Step 3: Colour Your Family Tree

Now comes the fun part!

Colour your whole tree with cheerful crayon colours.

You can make:

🌿 Green leaves
🌸 Colourful flowers
🟤 A brown tree trunk
💛 Yellow or golden decorations
🌈 Any colours you love!

There is no right or wrong way to colour your family tree.

Make it your own!

You can draw the memory beside their name or write a few words about it.

Print the black-and-white Family Memory Tree below and start filling it in!

💡 What is one special thing you would like to remember about someone in your family? It could be a story, a recipe, a song, a place or a happy moment.
