Paryushana is a special time when people think about their actions and ask for forgiveness. In this activity, let’s make a simple handmade card to say “I’m sorry” and “Please forgive me.” You can decorate it with your own colours and give it to someone special.

What You’ll Need

  • A sheet of paper or light-coloured card
  • Crayons or coloured pencils
  • Child-safe scissors
  • Glue
  • A pencil
  • Optional: small stickers or paper decorations

Steps

Step 1: Fold your paper.
Take a rectangular sheet of paper and fold it in half to make a card. Press the fold gently so it stays flat.

Step 2: Decorate the front.
Close your card. The outside page you can see is the front of your card. Draw a simple flower, heart, diya or another cheerful design on it. You can make it colourful and creative!

Step 3: Open your card.
Now open the card. You will see two inside pages. Decorate around the edges of the inside pages with simple flowers, hearts, leaves or other patterns. Leave the middle area empty for your message.

Step 4: Write your message.
Write your forgiveness message in the centre of the card. You could write “I’m sorry. Please forgive me.” You can also add “Micchami Dukkadam” if you know the phrase.

Step 5: Give your card.
Your forgiveness card is ready! Give it to someone you would like to say sorry to, or someone you want to thank for forgiving you.

Use the Kahani Kids printable forgiveness card below. Print it, colour the flowers and hearts, add your own message, and fold it into a card.
